Brief & Reason For Repair

  • The floor was uneven and unsuitable in its current condition.
  • Expansion joints were cracked and open due to years of wear and tear and liquid penetration.
  • Cracking tiles
  • Rotting residue underneath tiles and poor drainage can cause liquid to penetrate and cause tiles to lift

Preparation Of The Floor

  • The floor was assessed to find where drummy areas were and what areas needed to be cut out and repaired.
  • Tile floor/concrete substrate (in certain areas) needed to be jackhammered up and ground back to the substrate to open up capillaries in the concrete for a stronger bond.

Installation Of Flooring System

  • The floor was then vacuumed to ensure no dust or dirt remained on the surface
  • All low points are filled with an epoxy mortar to ensure a level surface.
  • The surface is now clean and contaminant-free, ready for cementitious polyurethane cement installation.

Application Of Polyurethane Cement

  • Polyurethane cement was applied at the required thickness.
  • Aggregate was broadcasted throughout the polyurethane to add a non-slip surface rating between R11-R12

Additional Preparation Work For Tiled Coving & Top Coat

  • Once the floor had been laid additional prep work was necessary on the tiled coving to maximise the bond strength of the top coat.
  • Areas that needed repairs were given additional attention and filled with epoxy mortar.
  • The floor was painted using an anti-microbial epoxy top coat to seal the floor from liquids and chemical attacks.
